About Our Ice Fishing Game
We are a small team of anglers and game developers who spent three winters studying frozen lake ecosystems before writing a single line of code. www.codeair.in is where that research became a game.
Our Mission
We set out to build the most accurate virtual ice fishing experience available — one that respects the sport and teaches real technique through gameplay.
Every fish species in our simulator behaves according to peer-reviewed behavioral studies. That's not marketing language — it's a product decision we made on day one.
How We Started
Two of our founders grew up ice fishing on Lake Simcoe in Ontario. They were frustrated that no existing fishing game captured the patience, skill, and cold-weather strategy the sport demands.
The first prototype took 14 months to build. We scrapped it twice before the fish AI felt right. The final version launched with 14 species and three maps — all based on real Canadian lake geography.
Our Team
We are 9 people: 4 developers, 2 game designers, 1 fisheries data analyst, 1 UX researcher, and 1 kids education specialist who built our Kids Mode curriculum.
Game Philosophy
Fishing games fail when fish behavior is random. We refuse to do that. Every bite in our ice fishing simulator is the output of a physics model, not a dice roll.
We also believe great games don't require payment walls. The base ice fishing experience at www.codeair.in is free — forever. Paid upgrades are cosmetic or convenience, never pay-to-win.
Accessibility
Kids Mode launched because a beta tester's 7-year-old couldn't stop asking to play. We built the mode in 6 weeks and it now accounts for 20% of our weekly active users.
Community
Our Discord server has 12,000 members who share catch screenshots, debate bait strategies, and vote on which fish species we add next. The Q3 2026 blizzard update was their idea.
We read every feature request. The gear progression system — 30+ rods and 18 bait types — came directly from community feedback collected over 8 weeks of beta testing.
Partnerships
We partner with three Canadian fisheries conservation organisations to ensure our fish population models reflect real-world sustainability. A portion of gear upgrade revenue funds lake monitoring programs.
